The gastroenterologist has cleared Penny for physical therapy, so the goal is now to get her strong enough to be transferred to HealthSouth.

To start this process, as many of Penny's "lines" are being removed as possible to help her feel safer in her environment: the lines to her heart and lungs, and the oxygen and oxygen monitor. They're also tweaking her pain meds so that she is able to be more awake and able to participate in physical therapy, but still have pain management.

Matt and I are headed back to Utah today, and Elizabeth and Kathryn (and Kathryn's son Freddie) are flying in this afternoon.

It's been a pleasure for me to meet and get to know so many of Penny's friends and colleagues. I wish it were under better circumstances, of course, but it has still been a pleasure. You are wonderful people. Thank you so much for your love, support, flowers, cards and visits. I know Penny enjoys seeing you and hearing from you, and she knows she is loved. It's been good for us to watch her with you, as well, because it's actually been able to help us have a measure for Penny's lucidity. There are some concepts she hasn't been able to grasp for quite a while, but she always recognizes not only you, but your children and grandchildren.

Thank you all, again, for everything.

Cristina
