In January many years ago, Penelope saw me fall in the parking lot of the District Office. She was on the ground beside me immediately calling for a blanket and telling others to call an ambulance. My back was broken in eight places, my femur was shattered and protruding bone had severed an artery. I was losing a lot of blood. Penny was sitting on the ground holding my head in her lap and the sun was shining through her red hair. She looked like an angel. I spent several years in bed and now am confined to a wheelchair, but will be thankful the rest of my life that Penny was there when I needed her help. We kept in touch even after she left the District and I saw her a few months ago at the vets' office in Tehachapi looking as beautiful as ever. My gratitude to that wonderful woman and my condolences to her family. She was brilliant, caring, and a woman of great character, integrity, and, most of all, she was a woman of faith. Knowing her has enriched my life, the life she saved so many years ago.
